BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON - Radiant Research Inc. announced today that Gordon H. Empey has been named to the newly created position of Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Empey, 35, an experienced corporate and securities attorney with a broad range of experience with healthcare and biotechnology companies, comes to Radiant Research from the law firm Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe, LLP. In his new position at Radiant, Mr. Empey will oversee all legal issues including Radiant's merger and acquisition activity, contracting and general corporate issues.

"Gordon's demonstrated track record of negotiating successful mergers and acquisitions, general contract law as well as his extensive legal experience in securities law will be invaluable as we continue to grow the Company and build shareholder value," said Michael Lester, Radiant's chief executive officer.

Prior to joining Heller Ehrman, Mr. Empey served as a senior attorney for Venture Law Group. He has represented such clients as Xcyte Therapies, Blue Heron Biotechnology, Airframe, Dexterra, E-Surg, Illumigen Biosciences, Koronis Pharmaceuticals, MedManage Systems and Radiant Research as well as serving as investor counsel to a number of venture capital funds. Mr. Empey also serviced as a judge advocate general for the United States Navy from 1994 to 1998.

Mr. Empey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with high honors and a juris doctor degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California Berkeley. Mr. Empey is a member of the Bar in both Washington and California.
