WHAT:	Can take advantage of free screenings as part of National Memory Screening Day, an annual event by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) to promote early detection of Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses.
WHEN:	During the month of November or on select dates only (as determined by local Radiant site)
WHY:	A screening could indicate whether a person should follow up with a complete medical exam, which could lead to early detection of a memory disorder. Early diagnosis is essential so that individuals can take advantage of appropriate medical treatments and social services interventions that can improve quality of life. Memory screenings are simple: they average ten minutes, and consist of questions and tasks to assess memory. They do not diagnose any illness, but can indicate whether someone should follow up with a full medical exam. Alzheimer's affects an estimated five million Americans, including one in ten aged 65 and older and one in two aged 85 and older. It is the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S. National Memory Screening Day is an annual initiative of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, and takes place during National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month in November.
