San Diego, Calif. - Radiant Research Inc., a comprehensive clinical research company that provides phase I-IV clinical drug development services to the biopharmaceutical industry, today announced the opening of their new state-of-the-art clinical research facility located at Chesapeake Park Plaza, 9665 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92123.
"We are excited to be expanding our existing clinical research facility to accommodate our growth in phase II-IV study volume as well as adding a new 36-bed early phase unit," stated Michael Lester, chief executive officer of Radiant Research. "There is a strong demand for early phase capabilities on the west coast, particularly with our biotech customers in the southern California area."
"This new facility gives us the capability to conduct complex and challenging early phase clinical pharmacology studies for our biopharmaceutical customers" said Tom Garland, M.D., Medical Director, Radiant Research | San Diego. Dr. Garland, board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiology, is a highly experienced clinical investigator who has conducted over 300 Phase I-IV clinical trials.
Early phase studies test how new drugs are absorbed and processed in the body. Volunteers have the potential to be reimbursed up to $5,000 for their time and effort depending on the specific clinical trial. Participants in early phase trials typically stay at the facility for 5 to 15 days while they are being evaluated. "We have designed our new facility to allow our volunteers to be as comfortable as possible while being closely monitored by our highly-trained medical staff," said Lisa Bjornestad, Site Director for Radiant Research | San Diego.
Radiant Research has been in the San Diego market since January 1998 when the Company acquired the San Diego Endocrine Medical Clinic located at 5920 Friars Road. Volunteers interested in participating in a clinical trial at the new facility should call 1-866-818-3253. Radiant will be hosting an open house on Friday, January 21, 2005 from 11:00am - 4:00pm for participants interested in future clinical trials. Visitors will be able to tour the new facility and receive a variety of free health screenings in addition to adding their name to a priority list for upcoming clinical trials.
In addition to continuing to grow the core Phase II-IV study conduct services business across its 50+ wholly-owned premier clinical research sites, Radiant Research is also expanding its early phase capability by adding 24 to 36-bed units at nine of its existing phase II-IV clinical research sites. Radiant Research also plans to open a 120-bed state-of-the-art early phase research unit in Dallas, Texas in February 2005. Ultimately, Radiant Research intends to have 10 early phase units by the end of the third quarter of 2005 with approximately 500 beds, each having access to special patient populations and the therapeutic expertise of experienced clinical investigators.
